Acme Recruitment
For candidates

Honest representation,
not volume.

We work with permanent, contract, and interim candidates across the South East — at the mid-career through director level. Here's what working with us actually looks like.

In short
  • We respond to every legitimate application within two working days.
  • The first call is 30 minutes, by phone, no obligation either way.
  • We will tell you honestly if we can't help — and where we'd point you instead.
  • We will never put your CV in front of a client without telling you first.
What to expect

From CV to offer.
The honest version.

01

You register or apply

Through the apply form, by email, or via LinkedIn — whatever's easiest. The form takes 4-5 minutes and the consultant who'll work with you reads it personally.

02

First conversation

30 minutes by phone or video. We talk about what you're looking for, what's realistic, where you'd thrive, and where you wouldn't. We will tell you honestly if we don't think we can help.

03

CV polish & positioning

If we're going to represent you, we'll often suggest small edits to your CV — the kind that materially improve how the right hiring manager reads it. The CV stays yours; we don't put a recruiter watermark on it.

04

Introductions & interviews

We introduce you to clients we genuinely think are a fit, prep you properly for every interview round, and debrief honestly afterwards. We will never put your CV in front of a client without your explicit consent.

05

Offer & negotiation

We handle the offer conversation between you and the client — including pay, benefits, start date, and notice period. We are paid by the client; our incentive is a placement that lasts, not a quick close.

06

After you start

We stay in touch for the first 12 weeks, and informally for years after that. The strongest candidates of the next decade are people we placed in the last decade.

What good looks like

Spotting good recruitment
from bad.

You will deal with a lot of recruiters in your career. Some are excellent and worth a long-term relationship. Some will burn the relationship in pursuit of a fee. Here's roughly how to tell them apart, in our experience.

Good signs
  • Asks about what you're looking for before pitching roles
  • Tells you specific details about the company and the team
  • Prepares you before every interview and debriefs afterwards
  • Asks before sending your CV anywhere
  • Tells you honestly when you're not a fit, and why
  • Stays in touch even when they don't have a role for you
Bad signs
  • Pitches roles before asking what you want
  • Can't name the company or describe the team beyond the JD
  • Pressures you into interviews you're not sure about
  • Has spammed your CV around without telling you
  • Disappears when you don't immediately fit a role
  • Loses interest the moment you accept a different offer
Questions we get a lot

Candidate
FAQs.

Do I pay anything to register?

No. Recruitment fees are paid by the employer, never the candidate. If a recruiter asks you to pay anything, walk away.

Will my current employer find out?

Not from us. We will never send your CV to any company — including your current employer's parent, sister companies, or competitors — without your explicit consent. Job searches are confidential by default.

How long are you likely to take to come back to me?

We aim to reply to every legitimate application within two working days. For senior briefs where we're actively recruiting, the consultant will often call you within 24 hours.

What if you don't have a role that fits right now?

We will tell you honestly, register your details, and be in touch when something does. The strongest candidates of the next year are usually people we registered eighteen months earlier. We do not pretend to have roles we don't have.

I've worked with bad recruiters in the past. What's different here?

Fewer of us, more time per candidate, and the partner who reads your CV is the one who introduces you. We have eighteen years of placement data and an 87% repeat client rate — both of which would not survive a transactional approach to candidates.

Can I just send my CV without applying for a specific role?

Yes — that's what the register-your-CV form is for. Speculative registrations are an important part of how we work, particularly for senior candidates who aren't actively in market.
