Five specialisms.
Deep relationships in each.
We focus on five sectors where our consultants have material industry experience. Within those five we work on permanent, contract, and interim roles from mid-career through to director level.
Commerce
Sales, marketing, commercial, and general management roles across the South East. From Sales Manager to Commercial Director.
Executive Support
Executive Assistants, Office Managers, and Operations Coordinators. Often the hardest roles to get right.
Finance
Qualified and part-qualified finance roles across permanent, interim, and contract. From Management Accountant to Finance Director.
Operations
Operations, supply chain, logistics, and procurement appointments across SME and mid-market businesses.
Technology
Software development, IT operations, and technical leadership roles across the regional market.
Live roles,
currently on our desk.
Commercial Director
Senior commercial leadership role at an established regional brewer entering its next phase of growth. Lead a team of fifteen across sales, marketing, and customer accounts.
Financial Controller
Number-two finance role at a fast-growing logistics group. Take ownership of monthly close, statutory reporting, and a four-person finance team.
Senior Full-Stack Developer
Senior developer role at a Brighton-based B2B SaaS business. Modern stack, considered engineering culture, genuine product ownership.
Operations Manager
Operations leadership role at a specialist food manufacturer. Own production planning, shift management, and continuous improvement.
A regional consultancy that does the work itself.
Marlow & Finch has been independently owned and run since 2008. We have grown carefully — six consultants now, in three offices, working on roughly 400 placements a year. We have never owned a database we paid for. We have never bought a candidate list. We work the way good regional consultancies have worked for a generation, refined by what we have learned along the way.
The result is the kind of relationship you get with a smaller firm — your consultant knows your business, has likely worked with your existing team, and will tell you honestly when a brief is wrong. The result is also a placement record we are quietly proud of — 412 placements last year, 87% repeat client rate, and a candidate community we have spent eighteen years building.
Specialist consultants
Every brief is handled by a consultant with material experience in that sector. Not a generalist with a database.
Honest conversations
We will tell you when the brief is wrong, the salary is wrong, or the role is harder than you think. The conversation is the work.
Realistic shortlists
Three to five strong candidates, each spoken to at length. No bulk-emailed CVs. No CVs-by-the-yard.
Replacement guarantees
12-week guarantee on contingent placements; 26 weeks on retained. Reflective of how seriously we take placement quality.

The counter-offer trap: why accepting one usually doesn't work out
Roughly 80% of candidates who accept a counter-offer have left the original employer within 18 months. Here's what's actually going on.
Hiring when you can't pay London salaries: what actually works
Regional SMEs competing with London-bid talent budgets. Three things that make the difference, and three things that don't.
Six consultants.
Each one a specialist.
Three offices, six consultants. Every brief is run by someone who has personally specialised in that sector — most often for years.
A conversation,
no obligation.
Whether you're hiring or thinking about your next move, we'd be happy to talk. The first call is 30 minutes, by phone, no follow-up unless you'd like one.
